[January 07, 2012]  Parrot Heads, mark your calendars! On Saturday, March 31, doors will open at 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus for the sixth annual Cheeseburger in Paradise-themed event to raise money for local senior rides and senior meals.

Tickets are on sale now for $25 each. All proceeds will go to the Logan County and Mason County Senior Nutrition and Transportation programs that have been coordinated by Community Action for over 30 years.

While the programs receive a grant from the Area Agency on Aging of Lincolnland and local support from the Logan County senior tax and United Way, they must find additional revenues annually. As a matter of fact, the major funding source requires a show of local support through additional funding.

The event on March 31 will feature Jimmy Buffett-inspired live musical entertainment by last year's entertainer, "J., The World's Most Dangerous One Man Band," along with a comedic performance from Mason City Limits Comedy Club. The event will include as many cheeseburgers as you can eat, raffles, silent auctions, live auctions and more.

"We look forward to seeing everyone out having a great time as we support our local seniors. We've sold out the past five years, so we encourage people to contact us right away for tickets," said Ashley Doyle, community relations director.

Businesses, organizations and individuals also have an opportunity to support the seniors through table sponsorships, raffle donations and the purchase of VIP table packages.

For more information or to purchase tickets, call 217-732-2159, ext. 0.
