[January 07, 2012]  The Lincoln Community High School Fine Arts Department will present its winter play, Edgar Lee Masters' "Spoon River Anthology," on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m.; and Sunday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m. in the LCHS auditorium.

In Spoon River, we are introduced in a cemetery to the ghosts of those who were inhabitants of the Illinois town and whose secrets have gone with them to the grave. There are 60-odd characterizations and vignettes in this constantly interesting entertainment offering an amazingly varied array of roles and impersonations, from young lovers and preachers and teachers to the chronicle of the poor, mixed-up soul who has ended up in the wrong cemetery. Both the sordid and humorous sides of life are portrayed, through fetching ballads and the free-verse form of Masters' poetry.

The cast features 18 actors playing a wide variety of roles and five musicians who sing and play instruments throughout the course of the show.

Cast members are Matthew Langdon, Ryder Mills, Wyatt Phillis, Justin Broom, Konnor Browne, Josh Meador, Elijah Chapman, Elizabeth Jaegle, Shelby Voyles, Amy Knutilla, Sara Buchanan, Tegan Follis, Amina Jackson, Lauren Stanfield, Joella Vermeire, Rachel Skelton, Olivia Graue and Morgan Conrady.

Kaylee McAllister is assistant directing, and Matthew Mason is the musical director.

Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door the night of the performance.
