[January 21, 2012]  The mayor's steering committee for the development of the former Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital site will have a public meeting Jan. 26 to unveil a preliminary concept plan for the site and to solicit public feedback on the plan.

HardwareThe meeting will be in the ballroom at the Lincoln Park District headquarters, 1400 Primm Road, and will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Kent Massie from Massie Massie & Associates in Springfield and Lisa Kramer from Prairie Engineers in Lincoln will present the concept plan. The plan includes an overall design to guide the development of the site into public space intended to promote the health and well-being of the citizens of Lincoln.

The steering committee had its first public meeting Oct. 13 at Central School. The committee has met monthly since then, using input and comments from the initial meeting to develop the concept plan that will be presented Thursday evening.

On Sept. 28, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital gave the city of Lincoln the site of the former hospital as well as the facility's former parking lot on the north side of Eighth Street.

The development of the concept plan for the site was made possible through the generosity of Robert J. Woods and Joan Jarrett Woods through the Woods Foundation.

Members of the steering committee are Njeri Bere, Wayne Cox, Bill and Jean Gossett, Marcia Greenslate, Alderwoman Kathy Horn, Candy Letterly, Roy Logan, Todd and Tate Mourning, and Bill and Kathy Vinyard.
