[January 21, 2012 The Blue Room at the Logan County Safety Complex was the site of a party for Lincoln Police Officer Bob Rawlins. It was noted in a letter by Chief Ken Greenslate, who is on assignment in Alabama, that Rawlins has seen police work move from the typewriter to the in-car laptop computer. To top the day off, Rawlins was given the award as Lincoln Police Department Officer of the Year.

Greenslate also wrote that Rawlins didn't miss a single day of work his first 20 years on the job and only missed six during his entire 30-year career. Rawlins served for 23 years as the city adviser for Crime Stoppers.

Bob said he doesn't have any set plans for his retirement years and will just see what happens.

His friends on the force had a little fun with Bob, telling him how young they were, if even born yet, when he first donned an LPD uniform.
