Non-Emergency activities

Fire Inspectors have been busy finishing up fire investigations with documentation being shared with Lincoln Police and other area Fire Departments for information community awareness.

Inspectors have been following up with inspections at Hallie's, McDonalds, Jaycee's Angle tree project, Rusty's (fire alarm reactivation), Hibachi Grill (egress issues), Logan County Courthouse, Hardies, Country Boy Store, Kroger's, Liberty Tax, Goodwill and have finished up work for our new fire prevention coloring books that will be available at the beginning of 2012.

School inspection has been completed at West Lincoln Broadwell Elementary and Middle School.

Lieutenants have been working on plan reviews for Lincoln Christian University, Code Blue updates at Carroll Catholic School, Lincoln Community High, Washington Monroe, Rexx Battery Specialist and Russell Stover's.

Several plans have been rechecked and updated.

Maintenance of the station and apparatus

Apparatus maintenance for the month of December has included Engine 5101 being out of service for the month due to broken leaf springs, a hydraulic leak, a cooling line leak and a corroded pipe on the pump.

5104 has developed an air leak which is affecting response due to the brakes leaking down. The Engine will not move until air pressure builds to release the air brakes. The air line appears to be for the air actuated pump transfer valve. This repair is to be completed as soon as 5101 is back in service.
