Transport to Springfield is on Feb. 20. Male cats are neutered for $35, dogs are spayed or neutered for $55, and pits and pit mixes are spayed or neutered for $25. Proof of rabies vaccination must be shown at time of transport or a rabies shot must be given by the Animal Protective League.

The Elkhart Historical Society will present a lecture, "Little Known Facts About Abraham Lincoln in Logan County, 1834-1860," given by Paul Beaver, Lincoln College professor emeritus and historian, on Friday, Feb. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the Wild Hare Café in Elkhart.

Lincoln was a surveyor, lawyer and politician in and around Logan County and left much documented information, some of which has previously been reported incorrectly in hundreds of publications over the years. Elkhart's internationally known cattle baron, John Dean Gillett, was a friend of Mr. Lincoln's, and their relationship will also be discussed. A revealing PowerPoint presentation will accompany the talk.

The cost is $25 per person. For complete details, visit http://www.elkharthistoricalsociety.org/.
