Atlanta – Betty L. Armstrong, 84, of Atlanta, passed away at the Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln on Friday, January 27, 2012, at 7:30 a.m.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Armstrong will be held on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Atlanta United Methodist Church with Mr. Ryan Edgecombe and Pastor Robert Armstrong officiating.

Visitation for Betty will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

Burial will be in the Atlanta Cemetery.

Betty Lou Armstrong was born on August 15, 1927 in Bruning, Neb., the daughter of William Arthur and Gladys Viola Bowman Risor. She married George R. Armstrong, on June 27, 1972, in Virden, Ill. He preceded her in death.

Surviving Betty are three children: Raymond (Chris) Armstrong of Atlanta, Robert (Pam) Armstrong of Springfield, and Debbie Armstrong Menken of Atlanta; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; three sisters: Donna (Robert) McCaskie, Sharon (Gerald) Anderson, and Sandra (Roger) Helich.

Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her husband, George; sons Arthur and Roger; and one sister, Sonja Sue.

Betty graduated from Davenport High School in 1944 in Davenport, Neb. She retired from Lincoln Development Center. She was a member of Atlanta Christian Centre and the writers club at the nursing home.
