[January 30, 2012]  ROMEOVILLE -- On Friday, the LC swimming team traveled to Lewis University to face former Lincoln College assistant coach Steve O'Leary and the Lewis Flyers. The Lynx put in a stellar performance, winning 13 of 22 events. The men and women shut out Lewis in all four relay events (200 medley and 400 free).

Individual event winners were Maggie Rea in the 1,000 free and 500 free; Michael Palleros, 50 free and 100 free; Paula Carvajal, 200 IM; Libby Hess, 200 breast; Shelby Miller, 200 IM and 200 back; and Max Spencer, 200 breast.

Max Spencer set a new pool record in the 200 breast.

Before coming to Lewis University, O'Leary was an assistant coach at Lincoln College for three seasons. Lincoln College head coach Jake Sexton is also an alum of Lewis University.

Coach Sexton commented:

"I thought we swam pretty well this weekend. Especially since we have been in our heavy training phase the past month. What I like the most is that despite how we were feeling, we got up and raced. This meet was a test of how we can overcome, and we rose to the occasion. We are about one month away from NJCAA national championships, and it looks like we are shaping up for a good end of the season."
