[January 30, 2012]  The ag committee of the Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce is looking to reward qualified students with scholarships. Cultivating future agricultural leaders by awarding scholarships toward their education is one of the committee's top objectives. Any high school senior or current college student from Logan County planning to or currently pursuing an education in an agricultural field is encouraged to apply. The ag scholarship is designed for students planning to return to Logan County as leaders in the ag field.

HardwareThe scholarship recipients will be announced during the 13th annual Logan County Ag Day Scholarship Breakfast on Thursday, March 22, at 7 a.m. at Lincoln Christian University's Laughlin Center. One of the most important parts of this event is the awarding of scholarships to our future agricultural leaders. The scholarship breakfast is also a great networking opportunity for the ag and business community to come together.

The ag scholarships are made possible through generous sponsorships from community businesses. Local businesses partner together to support and sustain agriculture awareness in our community. In the 13-year history of the Ag Day Scholarship Breakfast, $67,000 in scholarships has been awarded to deserving local students.

The Ag Day event is free to all Logan County residents. It is hosted by the chamber's ag committee and made possible by local business sponsors. Along with the community breakfast, there is an informative program. Anyone interested in attending may make reservations by calling the chamber at 217-735-2385.

Applications for the ag scholarships are available on the chamber website at www.lincolnillinois.com; from the chamber office, 1555 Fifth St. in Lincoln; in local high school guidance offices; or by calling the chamber at 217-735-2385. The deadline to apply for a scholarship is March 2. Applications should be returned to the chamber office no later than 5 p.m. that day.

The chamber's Ag Day Scholarship Breakfast is an important part of the mission of the chamber to advocate for business by providing leadership, programs and services that create, protect and enhance the business environment for the benefit of chamber members and Logan County.
