This weekend, street art came to Lincoln thanks to the Lincoln Park District, the From the Ground Up group and Lincoln College art instructor Christopher Tice.

The group began Friday morning by applying the base coats that would provide the backdrop for their art project.

Throughout the next two days, the scenes began to take shape, and by 5 p.m. on Saturday, though not completely finished, the viaduct at the end of South Kickapoo in Lincoln told the story of one of Lincoln and Logan County's favorite annual events.

Toby Prang of the Lincoln Art Institute was there early to help out with the project.

Cody Goodwin was one of the youngest early arrivals for the project.

Kathy Vinyard of the From the Ground Up Group and the city of Lincoln was right there with paint roller in hand.

And of course Bill Vinyard was also there lending a hand.

Lincoln College art instructor Christopher Tice led two classes on street art before heading up the first project.

Marcia Greenslate of the park district grabs a paint brush and starts filling in where the rollers missed.
