This year the village of Mount Pulaski decided that it would be in the best interest of public safety not to have a fireworks event.  However, there were still plenty of things to do to celebrate the Fourth. The village had townwide garage sales, including some fundraisers in the downtown area. There were food fundraisers included, with the VFW fried chicken dinner and the Boy Scouts' pork chop sandwiches.

For some, the best thing to do on a hot Fourth of July was hit the pool and stay cool.
