SPRINGFIELD
-- The "Artist in Residence" program series at the Vachel
Lindsay Home State Historic Site continues with an exhibit of
photography by Springfield artist Laura Coffey, whose work will be
on display in the home July 14-25. Visitors can meet the artist at a
public reception Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.

The exhibit is titled "Metamorphosis: The Refashioned Photography of
Laura Kay Coffey." Coffey is a self-taught photographer and has been
locally recognized, including receiving several awards at the
Illinois State Fair in the computer graphics, digital image and
photography categories. She also designed the August 2012 Pecha
Kucha poster.
Coffey is a Girl Scout leader and has encouraged creativity
within her troop. Using their cookie sale profits, her troop
purchased a camera in 2008, and the girls, entering sixth grade this
fall, have won multiple awards at the Illinois State Fair.
The "Artist in Residence" series is co-sponsored by the Vachel
Lindsay Association.
