[July 14, 2012]  Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital announced this week that April Matherly, unit clerk of the Special Procedures Area, was named July Employee of the Month.

Matherly has worked at ALMH for 13 years as of this August. She began at ALMH in materials management, earned her nurse technician certification and transferred to her current position in February 2009.

In her role as unit clerk, Matherly communicates with doctors’ offices, schedules outpatient appointments and prepares all patient and surgical charts for the Special Procedures Area. Matherly also ensures excellent patient care by assisting other departments and providing direct patient care.

"It’s a wonderful feeling when I see patients leave each day with a smile on their face and know that I helped create a great patient experience. I also enjoy working with all of my co-workers. We are team players, and many friendships have been made over the years," said Matherly of her position at ALMH.

Matherly was nominated by co-workers. In her nomination, she was described as the glue to the Special Procedures Area.

"She is always helpful to her fellow employees and helps with patients when needed," said her co-worker.
