Illinois grain prices in country elevators

[July 17, 2012]  SPRINGFIELD -- This is Monday's report of the grain prices and trends, prepared by the USDA and the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Illinois country grain prices were sharply higher on Monday afternoon.

The outlook for the hot and dry weather conditions to continue this week, especially for the western cornbelt, pushed futures prices up.

The condition of the nations corn and soybean crops continue to fall.

In the USDA's Weekly Crop Progress report, the US corn crop placed only 31% in the good to excellent range, down 9% from last week.

The US soybean crop placed 34% in the good to excellent range, down 6% from last week.

In Northern and Western Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn bids 28 to 30 cents higher at 7.80-7.92.

Soybean bids traded 29 to 34 cents higher at 16.49-16.60.

In Central Illinois country grain dealers quoted shelled corn bids were 34 to 35 cents higher at 7.95-8.11.

Soybean bids were 39 to 44 cents higher at 16.46-16.69.

Wheat bids were 35 to 40 cents higher at
8.49-8.68.

In the Southern part of the state, shelled corn bids were mostly 34 to 40 cents higher at 8.11-8.27.

Soybean bids were 38 to 39 cents higher at 16.48-16.90.

Wheat bids were mostly 33 to 38 cents higher at 8.55-8.99.
