It's been happening all summer and is scheduled to continue for the next few weeks. What is going on is the city of Lincoln Fire Department is visiting various city parks and offering a 30-minute cool-off for community children.

This week on Wednesday the ladder truck made its way to Allison Park in the Mayfair subdivision.

Kids in the area were ready and waiting when the truck arrived shortly after 6 p.m.

For some, the huge spray of water coming from the top of the ladder was a little forbidding, but after the first two brave youngsters dove in, the rest were quick to follow.
