While at the camp, the wrestlers competed in individual
competition as well as dual meet competition and received
instruction in modern-day technique from Purdue's NCAA Division I wrestlers and coaching
staff.
The individuals who competed from Lincoln fared well above their
counterparts from states such as Michigan, Indiana and reaching as far
as Tennessee.
Individual records for the weeklong camp: Brent Metelko, 18-3; Matthew Brewer, 19-1; Max Koning, 18-2; Brian
Haggard, 26-0; Austin Swartz, 19-5; Wes Osborne, 18-2
. In the dual meet competition, the Lincoln wrestlers boiled
the competition by winning seven duals and winning every match they

Purdue coach Podoi and the camp instructor who led the kids
to the championship said the Lincoln kids all did a great job in
competition, and it was his pleasure to have such a good group
of kids to work with.
Brad Gardner was also very pleased with the kids and had this to
say: "The kids did great at this camp. There are not enough great
things I can say about this great group of kids. And I would also
like to thank the great community of Lincoln and everybody who
supports Lincoln wrestling, as well as the annual golf outing to
make this all possible." [Text
