[July 26, 2012]  American Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Logan County reported its figures for 2012 at a meeting on Monday. The theme this year was "Party Like It's 2012," and teams and leaders alike celebrated the support. Reported were 42 teams with 380 participants, collecting a total thus far of $81,235.

Rachel Ray of the American Cancer Society staff reminded the group that donations can still be given until Aug. 31.

The Relay for Life activities this year took place in the Lincoln Center on the Lincoln College campus from 6 p.m. June 15 through 6 a.m. June 16. Prior to that, all survivors were treated to a buffet hosted by John Guzzardo.

During the evening, lights of hope glowed from 1,079 luminaria in honor of loved ones who fought the fight or who are survivors. Special recognition was given to the team with the most earnings -- Walking For Robin, who collected $7,773. Second were The Boomerangs, collecting $6,691, and third were the Faith, Hope and Love team, collecting $6,798. Donna Miles was the top solo collector with $2,665.

The co-chairs for 2012 were Jeff and Maritta Robinson.

The trio co-chairs for 2013 were announced and celebrated -- Nicole Tripplett, Amy Weidhuner and Tabitha Weidhuner. They quickly invited everyone who has been a part of the event to continue their support, and they welcome anyone who has "thought about it" but never signed up.
