Poland's opposition to joining euro at record high

[July 28, 2012]  WARSAW, Poland (AP) -- A survey shows that opposition to adopting the euro currency in Poland has reached its all-time high at 68 percent.

The survey published Friday by the CBOS center showed opposition to substituting the local currency, the zloty, has risen 8 percentage points since January. Support is 25 percent, or 7 points less than in January.

Although the eurozone is being rocked by a serious crisis, Poland declares it still wants to adopt the European Union's common currency, and should meet the criteria in 2015.

Some 20 percent of respondents said that insolvent Greece should leave the eurozone. Another 31 percent believe the eurozone must be saved at all costs and 29 percent would see it scrapped.

CBOS polled 960 adults July 5-12. The margin of error is 3.2 percentage points.
