[July 27, 2012]  Together for Lincoln now has applications available for those seeking home improvement help, as well as for those who would like to volunteer for the Sept. 29 community service day. Home improvement projects handled by Together for Lincoln include but are not limited to painting, yardwork, carpentry, gutter cleaning and the construction of wheelchair ramps.

Anyone interested in filling out an application can pick one up at the Logan County Food Pantry, Holy Family Food Pantry, Community Action, Salvation Army, State Bank of Lincoln Wal-Mart location or Jefferson Street Christian Church. Applications can also be downloaded from www.togetherforlincoln.com under the "Get Involved" tab. Home improvement applications are due by Aug. 22, while volunteer applications are due by Sept. 1.

Together for Lincoln is also offering home weatherization as a part of its annual community service day. Home weatherization needs could include but are not limited to the installation of doors and windows, caulking around windows, and installing insulation. Weatherization applications can also be obtained at all of the locations listed above. Since Together for Lincoln is working to complete the home weatherization projects with an outside grant, there is a mandatory application deadline of Aug. 1.

Together for Lincoln is a community partnership of over 15 churches in Lincoln. Over the past four years they have mobilized over 3,000 volunteers to complete more than 400 service projects in the community.
