[July 30, 2012]  World Breastfeeding Week this year will be observed locally with a promotional event at the Logan County Fair on Aug. 2 during the "Kids Day" events in the Special Events Building.

From 3 to 6 p.m. the Logan County Department of Public Health WIC program will have water, cookies and balloons to give away as well as raffles.

World Breastfeeding Week, officially Aug. 1-7, is a way to celebrate all of the mothers and babies who have benefited from breastfeeding in the past, as well as encouraging and supporting those sharing this gift currently. This year's theme is "The Road to Lifelong Health Begins with Breastfeeding."

The hope is to make this an annual event in Logan County.
