Zona Gae Schafer, 86, of Middletown, passed away July 26, 2012 at her residence.

Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Park Meadows Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 4 PM Tuesday also at the church with Pastor S.M. Davis officiating. Burial will be at 1 PM Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton.

Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Zona was born May 10, 1926 in Petersburg, IL., the daughter of Louis Tobias Jr. and Zella LaBerta (Tuttle) Heyen. She married Russell Lee Schafer on July 10, 1944. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2004.

Zona was a member of Park Meadows Baptist Church where she was a devoted and faithful servant. She loved her church and her family.

Surviving are her daughter Sandra "Sandy" (Tony) Wieber of Martinsville, IL.; son Gary (Janet) Schafer of Lincoln, IL.; daughter Marsha (Charley) Miller of Middletown, IL.; daughter Pamela (David) Matthews of Bay City, IL.; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother Don (Bernice) Heyen of Mt. Pulaski, IL.; brother Larry (Bonnie) Heyen of Indian Point, IL.; and brother Allen (Marilyn) Heyen of Greenview, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell, grandchildren Chad Wieber, Gary Schafer Jr., and Rusty Lee Austin, and sisters Leona May and Donna Jean.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Zona's memory to Park Meadows Baptist Church or to Memorial Home Hospice.
