Elkhart woman sustains minor injuries in Springfield crash

[July 31, 2012]  SPRINGFIELD -- Illinois State Police District 9 released the following accident report at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday:

Incident: Two-vehicle crash with injuries

Location: Exit ramp 105 from southbound Interstate 55

Date, time: July 31, 9:17 a.m.

Individuals involved:

  • Frances L. Pickett, 87-year-old female, Elkhart

  • Edward J. Zubrickas, 49-year-old male, Orland Park

Assisting agencies: Sherman Fire and Rescue and Sherman Police Department

Narrative:

Edward Zubrickas was parked on the west shoulder of exit ramp 105 in a white 2006 Chevrolet. Frances Pickett was traveling southbound on the exit ramp in a gray 1992 Pontiac. The right front of Pickett's Pontiac struck the left rear of Zubrickas' Chevrolet. After striking Zubrickas' vehicle, Pickett's Pontiac spun around and came to rest facing north on the ramp. Zubrickas' vehicle remained on the shoulder.

Pickett received a minor injury and was treated on-scene. Zubrickas was transported to Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles received major damage and were towed from the scene.

Citations are pending completion of the crash investigation.
