[June 11, 2012]  A support group for people with diabetes mellitus will meet Friday at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. The one-hour session will begin at 11 a.m. in the hospital's Wombacher Room. This is a new meeting time on the third Friday of each month. The topic is "What To Do at a Barbecue."

Jennifer DiPasquale, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, leads the group.

"The diabetes support group is a great opportunity to get practical and timely information to learn how to manage your diabetes," DiPasquale said.

The meetings are free, and no registration is required. Family members, friends and caregivers are also welcome to attend the meetings.

The topics for the next two meetings are "Vacation Planning," on July 20, and "Beating the Heat," Aug. 17.

For more information, call DiPasquale at 217-605-5535 or e-mail her at diabetes@almh.org.
