Orvetta Tucker

[June 21, 2012]  ATLANTA -- Orvetta F. Tucker, 89, of Atlanta, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 3:38 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

Armington – Orvetta F. Tucker, 89, of Armington, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 3:38 p.m. at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Funeral services for Mrs. Tucker will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Armington Christian Church. Mr. Ed Loyd and Mr. Norv Condy will officiate.

Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be in Minier Cemetery.

Surviving Mrs. Tucker are two daughters: Pam (Gary) Walters of Armington and Maricia (Scott) Wurth of Beason, and one son, Greg (Marilyn) Tucker of Atlanta; nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doreen Smith of Mt. Pulaski.

Orvetta was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, two sisters: Alverne Van Orman and Juanita Keim, and one son-in-law, John Paine.

 

Funeral Director

Orvetta F. Craig was born May 12, 1923, in Bloomington, the daughter of Edmond and Hilda Britton Craig. She married Gerald R. Tucker on January 17, 1942, in Macon, Ga. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1997. She and her husband spent many happy years camping and serving as hosts at Possum Creek Campground at Lake Shelbyville.

Mrs. Tucker was a graduate of Hittle High School in Armington. She retired from Lehn & Fink in Lincoln after 30 years of employment. She was a member of the Armington Christian Church.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, Armington Christian Church or Minier Christian Church.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
