[June 22, 2012]  McLEAN, Va. (AP) -- Gannett Co. Inc., publisher of USA Today and other newspapers, on Thursday named Victoria Harker as its new chief financial officer.

Harker most recently served as chief financial officer of AES Corp., an energy utility based in Arlington, Va. She will start with Gannett on July 23, replacing Paul Saleh, who left in May.

Harker's appointment is the latest in a wide-ranging executive shuffle under new CEO Gracia Martore.

Martore, formerly Gannett president and chief operating officer, was named CEO in October, shortly after former chief executive Craig Dubow announced that he was stepping down for health reasons.

Harker also serves on the board of Darden Restaurants Inc., the operator of chains such as Red Lobster and Olive Garden. She lives in McLean, Va., with her husband and three sons.
