Friday
evening the Lincoln Park District hosted its annual
drive-thru fried chicken dinner in the parking
lot of American Legion Post 263. They
began serving at 4:30 p.m. and continued until 7. According to Marcia
Greenslate and Roy Logan of the park district, by
a little after 6 they had served up
approximately 400 meals. The proceeds from
the dinner help pay for the annual Fourth of July
fireworks display at the park district.

Kennett, Thais Eads, Patty Blackburn and Marie Parr of
St. Clara's Manor are all decked out in their patriotic
attire to serve hamburgers and
hot dogs as part of their annual Fourth of July holiday
tradition. Staff, residents and guests all enjoyed
an early celebration of the Fourth. They also invited some
special guests, all the first responders of Lincoln and
Logan County, to join them.

Larry
and Margaret "Peggi" Pech of Lincoln will
celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an
open house on Sunday from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the
Lincoln Woman's Club, 230 N. McLean, at the
corner of McLean and Delavan. Family and friends
are invited to attend and socialize. Cake and
punch will be served. The couple requests no
gifts please.
Larry and the former Peggi Evans were married
June 30, 1962, at St. Patrick Church in Merna.
The church was leveled by a tornado in 1982, but
Larry and Peggi are still standing. They are the
parents of two sons, Jerry (and Rhonda) of Round
Lake Beach and Lawrence, who is deceased. They
also have four grandchildren: Kayla, Shane,
April and Cory.
