[March 02, 2012]  The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a wind advisory in effect until 8 this evening (Friday).

Timing: The strongest winds are expected through about 6 p.m.

Winds: Sustained winds will reach the 25 to 35 mph range, with gusts up to 45 mph at times.

Impacts: Travelers on north-to-south-oriented roads will experience significant crosswinds, making travel difficult. Lightweight or loosely secured objects can be tossed about. Some damage to tree branches and power lines will be possible.

Precautionary, preparedness actions: A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph or higher are expected and wind gusts of 45 mph or higher. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
