 The occasion was an Old Time Barn Dance in honor of Abraham
Lincoln's birthday. The event was at the Lincoln Park District
Recreation Center on Saturday evening.
The talented and delightful Ozzie Pearl from Weldon led the
sizable crowd through a variety of old-time dances. Quick turns,
lively music and shouts of fun released tiresome cares for about 50
participants as the evening flew by.
Pearl's repertoire included traditional square and line dances,
waltzes and two-steps, suitable for both new and experienced
dancers.
While another barn dance is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 15,
during the 42nd Abraham Lincoln National Railsplitting Festival,
dancers were so enthusiastic about the experience that an interest
sign-up sheet was started for the possibility of more dances before
that time.
A Civil War Ball is also set to take place on the Friday night of
the Railsplitting Festival weekend.
