[March 10, 2012]  (AP)  A relatively mild Saturday was in store for much of the country as no major storms were expected. The only region expected to feel a mild chill from late winter was the Northeast. A cool pool of Arctic air was sinking into New England, keeping afternoon temperatures seasonally cool.

HardwareIn terms of precipitation, a Pacific storm was expected to press into the Northwest, instigating rain along with some high-elevation snow in Oregon and Washington. This precipitation would have a hard time making it inland, however; thus the heaviest precipitation was expected near the coast.

In the South, a developing storm was moving into Texas. This storm was not likely to affect the area until the afternoon and evening, but substantial rain was likely for much of the state into the early part of Sunday. This storm was expected to move to the northeast Sunday, drenching other areas with similar rain.

The Southeast was expected to rise into the 70s and 80s, while the Northeast was looking at temperatures in the 30s and 40s. The Plains were to rise into the 60s and 70s, while the Southwest was to see temperatures in the 70s and 80s.
