[March 12, 2012]  ORLANDO, Fla. -- The last day on the field for the Lady Lynx softball team at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex did not go as expected. LC had a rough first inning against College of Lake County (Ill.), giving up four hits including a three-run homer, plus four errors. This resulted in a 5-0 deficit that the Lynx never did recover from.

Jessica Dorgan went 2 for 3 and Jana Wright and Christi Dixon each contributed a hit.

The final score was 10-0 in favor of College of Lake County. Price took the loss for the Lynx, dropping LC’s overall record to 4-4.

The second game was called in the third inning because of rain.

The Lynx return home for conference play beginning on March 24 versus Parkland College.

Lincoln coach Crystal Wurth commented:

"Unfortunately, as a team we did not show up to play our final day of spring training. We had way too many errors and we could not hit the ball. Defense killed us. One of the strongest things about this team is our defense and being able to make routine plays with no hesitation; however, when we lost our defense on this particular day, our pitchers needed to pick it up, work a little harder, and we were unable to get the job done.

"One thing that stats and scores does not show is how hard the girls tried to turn the game around. Their determination and chemistry makes them lethal. We just got started a little late in the game (hitting) and did not get the necessary hits to advance our runners home.

"Spring training was a great start to this season. We have learned a lot about what this team is capable of, and the expectations are set high for the remainder of our season. What these girls accomplished early this past week and their ability to play the game together was amazing. We have 14 days until our next game, and we will be working on putting the missing pieces together and we will be ready."
