Carmichael earns 1st-team honors from NABC

[March 15, 2012]  KANSAS CITY -- Illinois State junior Jackie Carmichael was recognized by the National Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday and earned first-team all-District 16 honors.

Carmichael, who earned second-team all-Missouri Valley Conference honors, is the second Illinois State player in school history to lead the Valley in rebounding, with 9.6 boards per contest. In addition to pacing the Redbirds in rebounding, Carmichael also leads ISU in scoring with 13.8 points per game.

The Manhattan, Kan., native also leads the squad in blocked shots with 46. On the season, Carmichael has posted a league-best 13 double-doubles, including 20-rebound and 19-rebound efforts.
