AMD, Scholastic, Guess are market movers

[March 16, 2012]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

NYSE

Guess Inc., down $3.73 at $32.97

The clothing company said that its fourth-quarter profit fell and its revenue was lower than Wall Street expected.

Winnebago Industries Inc., up $1.44 at $10.34

The recreational vehicle maker posted a second-quarter loss, but said its sales backlog is in better shape than it was a year ago.

Advanced Micro Devices Inc., up 49 cents at $8.25

A Jefferies analyst upgraded the chip maker's stock to "Buy" from "Hold" saying he expects it to increase market share.

Union Pacific Corp., up $5.37 at $113.08

The railroad company promoted several executives to fill jobs after the company's chief executive went on medical leave.

FXCM Inc., up 60 cents at $12.38

A Citi analyst upgraded the currency trading company's stock to "Buy" from "Neutral," citing improving business.

Scholastic Corp., up $4.16 at $36.36

The publishing and education company said that its fiscal third-quarter loss narrowed thanks to high demand for its children's books.

Vera Bradley Inc., down $3.56 at $33.58

The handbag and accessories company said fourth-quarter profit rose 41 percent, but it posted a weak first-quarter outlook.

Rue21 Inc., down $1.62 at $27.12

The retailer said its fourth-quarter profit rose 18.7 percent, but sales fell at its stores that were open at least a year.
