Lynx baseball overcomes shaky start to take down Fontbonne

[March 16, 2012]  ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Lincoln College was able to overcome a rough start to beat Fontbonne University 7-3 on Thursday.

HardwareLynx hurler Ricky Cody (St. Louis, Mo.) picked up the win after settling down following a three-run first inning. Cody walked three along with giving up two in the first inning, resulting in Fontbonne's three runs. Cody ended up walking seven on the day but outmatched hitters, fanning 10.

Lynx offensive compiled eights hits, led by Kenny May (Belleville) (3-4 2B 2 RBI SB), Cody Litweiller (Eureka) (1-4 3B 2 RBI SB), and Darin Pitts (Fairview Heights) (1-3 3B RBI.

Lincoln College jumped out to an early lead in the second game, but it was called in the second inning because of rain.

The Lincoln College (7-4) home opener is Saturday against Rock Valley.
