Bill Martin of Atlanta,  a Logan County Board member, spoke about how Atlanta was first named Xenia.

Bob Farmer, chairman of the Logan County Board, talked about the Logan County Poor Farm and cemetery.

Phil Bertoni of Mount Pulaski spoke about the 1910 race between Wilbur Wright in his airplane and a train on the ground. The plane landed in Mount Pulaski, but Wright was not the pilot.  Bertoni also introduced the leaders of Mount Pulaski Boy Scout Troop 122.

Greg Maus and Pam Erelbush are the leaders of Boy Scout Troop 122. Pam spoke about the connection between Scouting and the military, saying that many of our nation's soldiers first wore the uniform of a Scout.

 

Maus also talked about the number of Eagle Scouts the Mount Pulaski troop has produced: over 30.

Stu Churchill is the site director at Postville Courthouse. He spoke about the courthouse and encouraged everyone to stop in and pay a visit.

 

 

Ron Keller of the Lincoln College Heritage Museum spoke about the early days of the college as a university, its financial struggles and one man, David Hart, who provided money to keep the college going through the rough times.

Sylvia Klokkenga spoke about a new tradition in Emden: St. Nicholas Eve.  The event was initiated last December and went very well.  The community plans to make it an annual event.
