Offensive outburst leads Lynx to lopsided victory

[March 22, 2012]  Lincoln College collected 17 hits in an 18-9 rout of Kaskaskia on Wednesday afternoon.

HardwareKenny May (Belleville) started things off for the Lynx with a leadoff triple high off the center-field wall. May then scored on a sacrifice fly by Cody Litwiller (Eureka). The rout was on following a six-run fourth inning and five more runs in the seventh.

Twelve Lynx recorded hits. May led all hitters, going 3 for 4 with a double, triple and three RBIs, followed by multiple hits from Darin Pitts (Fairview Heights), who went 2 for 5 with a double and three RBIs; Bo Banning (Maroa), 2 for 3; and Derek Breit (Rockford), 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Brian Scott (Argenta) chipped in, going 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs.

Anthony Jerrall (Fort Wayne, Ind.) picked up the win after tossing 1 1-3 innings, giving up three earned runs and walking three while striking out one. Jason Carter (Bloomington) and Andrew Bietenduvel (Cincinnati, Ohio) each tossed a scoreless inning for the Lynx.

Lincoln College (9-4) will play host to No. 16 Lincolnland on Saturday.
