Outstanding hitting efforts came from Lohgan Bryant, who went 2 for
4 with two doubles; Christi Dixon, 2 for 3 with a single and double;
and Jessica Dorgan, 3 for 3 with a single and two doubles.
The second game was a constant battle until the Lady Lynx scored
the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The final score
was Lincoln 15, Millikin JV 14. Jana Wright (2-1) earned the win,
making a reappearance in the top of the seventh inning.
Casey Barretts led the Lynx offense by hitting two home runs, in
the third and fifth innings, a double and five RBIs. Others
contributing to the win offensively were Darrian Chrzanoski, 2 for 3
with two singles and a double; Rachel England, 3 for 4 with two
singles and a double; and Gretchen Stenger, 2 for 4 with a double
and single.
Lincoln coach Crystal Wurth commented:
"Overall we had a really good hitting day. The girls compiled 28
hits in 13 innings, so I am extremely happy with our offensive
efforts. Our bats are what won the game for us. We had solid hits in
key moments of the games. The girls were relaxed and having fun
playing in front of a home crowd. Two wins! It was a good day! LC is
now 6-4."
