[March 23, 2012]  Traffic was diverted in the 600 block of Keokuk Street this morning when a car suddenly caught fire while traveling east toward the railroad tracks.

The driver of the vehicle said she heard a loud pop. She stopped, unlatched the hood, got out and raised it.

She said she saw smoke coming out. A Lincoln city police officer in the vicinity stopped and directed her away from the vehicle, as the officer could see flames underneath the car.

The Lincoln Fire Department was called and quickly extinguished the fire.

There were no injuries in the incident.
