Edith Pope

[March 25, 2012]  ATLANTA -- Edith B. Pope, 93, of Atlanta, died Friday, March 23, 2012, at 1:45 p.m. at The Christian Village in Lincoln.

Atlanta- Edith B. Pope, 93, of Atlanta passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 1:45 p.m. at The Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.
 
Funeral Services for Mrs. Pope will be held on Tuesday, March 27. 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Atlanta Christian Church with Mr. Maurice Stribling and Mr. Ryan Edgecombe officiating.
 
Visitation will be held on Monday evening  from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Quiram Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta.
 
Burial will be in the Atlanta Cemetery at rural Atlanta.
 
Edith B. Wilcoxson was born on January 30, 1919 in Eminence Township rural Atlanta the daughter of Roscoe and Irene Shifflet Wilcoxson. She married Keith Pope on March 2, 1937. They were married for seventy-five years. He survives in Lincoln.
 
Also surviving are one daughter: Julie (Leroy) Osborn of Atlanta, one sister: Rosemary Satterfield of Davenport, Fl., Six grandchildren: Keith Craig, Mark Craig, Jim Craig, Libby Robison, Daniel Osborn, Kristopher Osborn. Nineteen great grandchildren, Eight great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Donna Craig, one sister: Lorietta Murphy, one brother: John Wilcoxson, one granddaughter: Barbara Craig, one great grandson: Jared Osborn.
 
Edith graduated from the Atlanta High School in 1936.

She was a lifetime member of the Atlanta Christian Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the Sisters in Service.

She was a member of the Atlanta Eminence Home Extension and numerous card clubs. 
 
She and her husband farmed in rural Atlanta their entire lives. She also owned and operated The Villager in Atlanta for nine years.
