[May 07, 2012]  WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama's re-election campaign is releasing a new television advertisement which argues that Obama saved the country from near-desperate economic straits in early 2009 and deserves a second term.

The commercial, which was made public early Monday, acknowledges that "we're not there yet" on new jobs to replace those lost in the deep recession of 2008-2009. But it calls Obama the right person to entrust with the nation's future. The commercial focuses on Obama's case for re-election and doesn't involve direct attacks on presumptive Republican presidential rival Mitt Romney.

It includes a statement that under Obama's watch, "our greatest enemy" was brought to justice, referring to assassinated al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.

Obama officially kicked off his campaign for re-election over the weekend with appearances in Virginia and Ohio.
