[May 07, 2012]  Fans and racers finally had the weather they have been longing for on a Friday night. Car count for the night's racing festivities at Lincoln Speedway was 106 cars. Fans came to the track eager to see great racing action, and the racers delivered just that.

Nick Bauman, driving the B1, captured his second victory this year at Lincoln Speedway in the Crate Late Model Division. Evan Fink led the race until seven laps to go, ending up tangling with the B1 for position. In victory lane, Bauman said that he and Fink are good friends and he hated that they got into one another like that, but was happy to see he didn't have a lot of damage and was able to finish the race. Matt Beadles finished in second in the 17B, followed by 33H, Robert Huffman.

In the Street Stock class, 20 cars started the feature, trying to capture the checkered flag. What a race this was as racers kept the fans on the edge of their seats. Travis Johnson, in the 18, led most of the race, holding off Andy Minett, 1M. Minett hit the tire in the second turn, sending the tire rolling down the back stretch and bringing out the yellow. Later, Johnson, choosing the inside lane, was pinched off in the first turn, causing him to hit the tire there, bringing out another caution and sending him to the back of the pack. Kevin Crowder, 15C, took full advantage of this and secured first place and held off Paul Bulpitt, 62B, for the feature win. Bob Simpson, 20, finished third, and Mike Cusack, C-7, finished fourth.

Modifieds had 30 cars in attendance in their class Friday night. Allen Weisser, A-DOG, fought his way to victory lane. Brian Divley, 29, gave it all he could to get around the 25W of Weisser. Matt Goulden, 41G, suffered a left rear flat after he got tangled up in lap traffic. Jeffrey Leka, 20, was working to reel in the 41G when a yellow came out. Fly'n Brian Lynn, 14, was able to get around the 20 of Leka and secure the third-place position. Leka finished fourth and Jackie Willis Jr., in the 17, finished fifth.

Zach Bollinger in the 77 captured the checkered flag in the Hornet class. Bob Sanders took second place, and Eric Wisher, 30SR, took third.

Todd Bates, in the 49, took home first place in the E-Mod class, followed by Mark Anderson and Berry Bradshaw.

This Friday will be Dean Shirley Night at Lincoln Speedway, sponsored by Graue Chevrolet. Sprint cars will be in action along with a full regular show. For more details, check the website, www.lincolnspeedwayil.com.
