            Community Action Partnership of Central
Illinois hosted a diaper drive in April to collect and donate
diapers to families throughout DeWitt, Fulton, Logan, Mason, Menard
and Piatt counties. Community Action Head Start classrooms in
DeWitt, Fulton, Logan, Mason, Menard and Piatt counties, along with
Community Action outreach offices and participating businesses
collected diapers April 23-27. Diapers of all sizes were accepted. |

            | Community Action announced last week that while there was a goal of
2,000, the agency collected close to 3,000 diapers. The diapers will
be distributed to families in need who participate in Community
			Action programs.
"In poor and low-income families, a baby can spend a day or longer
in one diaper, leading to potential health and abuse risks. As a
rising number of families throughout central Illinois struggle to
pay the rent and put food on the table, households with young
children face the added burden of providing diapers, an
often-overlooked expense that is not covered by WIC or food
assistance programs. We appreciate the individuals and businesses
that helped us to make our first diaper drive a success," said
			Angela Stoltzenburg, executive director.
