Betty Nichols

[May 14, 2012]  ELKHART -- Betty M. Nichols, 84, of Elkhart, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at 11:10 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Her son David A. "Sabwah" Nichols died Jan. 13, 2011, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Elkhart- Betty M. Nichols, 84, of Elkhart passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 11:10 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
 
David A. "Sabwah" Nichols passed away on January 13, 2011 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
 
Funeral Services for Mrs. Nichols and her David A. Nichols will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln with Rev. Dayle Badman officiating.
 
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at the funeral home.
 
Burial will be at New Union Cemetery in Lincoln. 
 
Surviving Mrs. Nichols are her children: Steve (Cindy) Nichols and Suzann (Mark) Maxheimer all of Elkhart. Three grandchildren: Jessica Maxheimer, Garret Maxheimer and Whitney Nichols. Four sisters: Bernice "Totie" Hoffert, Mary Ann Underwood Bratcher, Nevie (Jim) Haseley all of Lincoln, Ruth Steffens of Litchfield.

She was preceded in death by her son David A. "Sabwah" Nichols, three brothers: Orville Liesman, Gerald Liesman, Wilbur Liesman.

Betty Marie Nichols was born on January 10, 1928 in rural Lincoln the daughter of Reynold Orville and Cora Baker Liesman. She married Glenn Arthur Nichols on September 14, 1954. He preceded her in death on June 17, 2010.
 
Betty graduated from Hartsburg High School in 1946.
 
Betty retired from the Illinois Secretary of State's office where she worked in the Title Department. She later worked at the Dollar Store in Lincoln. 
 
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln and the Wonderful Women & Wine Red Hat Society group.
