Ben Steiner, an eighth-grader at Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln, won the state championship in the shot put at the Lutheran Sports Association state track meet last weekend on the campus of Concordia University in River Forest. Steiner also placed fourth in the discus throw.

Anna Sielaff, a seventh-grader, was the runner-up in the discus throw, winning second place. She also placed ninth in the shot put.

Also representing Zion Lutheran at the state meet were Garret Olson, discus; Braydon Simpson, long jump, 110-meter hurdles and high jump; Rachel Lockenour, shot put; Lauren Canady, long jump and 100-meter; and the 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Lauren Canady, Heather Heidbreder, Lane Prather and Gabbie Cox.

The ZLS Eagles are coached by Autum Robison, Jan Sielaff and John Beccue.
