Citation: Gosda was ticketed for failure to yield.
According to the accident report on file at the Logan County Safety Complex, Kirby was northbound on North Logan Street, heading toward Pekin Street. Gosda was eastbound on Pekin, headed toward Logan.
Gosda pulled out in front of Kirby in the intersection. Kirby said he swerved to try to avoid the accident but was unable to. Gosda hit the Kirby vehicle on the driver's side in front, sending the car out of control. Kirby's vehicle left the roadway and stuck the apartment building located in the 200 block of North Logan.
Kirby was taken to Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital by the Logan County Paramedic Association. No information is available on his condition.
