[May 18, 2012]  STANFORD -- Olympic High School senior Tania Van Hoorn signed with Culver-Stockton University on May 7. She will continue her basketball and volleyball career with the Wildcats of  Culver-Stockton, a four-year university in Canton, Mo.

Van Hoorn was coached by Darrel Shield her senior year for basketball and by Laura Ludwig during her high school volleyball career. Melissa Young will now coach her for basketball and Caren Kemner for volleyball.

"I can't wait to continue my career at Culver-Stockton," Van Hoorn said. "I've always had my own dream to play college ball since I was little, and it feels good to finally be able to, since along
the way, so many people told me it would never happen."

Van Hoorn not only played for Olympia, but also played on an AAU summer team, the Lincoln Stars. She was also a part of the 2011 and 2012 all-tournament teams and in 2012 was on the honorable mention team. She was a four-sport athlete for the Spartans her senior year, playing volleyball, basketball, soccer and track.

Van Hoorn plans to stay at Culver-Stockton University all four years on athletic and academic scholarships. We wish Tania the best of luck as she graduates from Olympia High School and starts her college career at Culver-Stockton.
