DSW, Williams-Sonoma, Cree are market movers

[May 23, 2012]  NEW YORK (AP) -- Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market:

NYSE

DSW Inc., up $5.43 at $61.23

The footwear and accessories retailer posted a $39.9 million first-quarter profit, reversing a loss in the same quarter last year.

Williams-Sonoma Inc., up $1.16 at $35.89

The home goods company said its first-quarter profit fell 3 percent, but its adjusted results topped Wall Street's expectations.

Ralph Lauren Corp., up $3.97 at $150.27

Thanks to stronger sales, the clothing and home products company said its fiscal fourth-quarter profit climbed 29 percent.

Express Inc., down $6.33 at $16.76

The clothing chain's first-quarter profit rose 20 percent as its revenue improved, but the results fell short of analysts' expectations.

Best Buy Co. Inc., up 29 cents at $18.46

The electronics retailer's first-quarter profit fell 26 percent, but its adjusted earnings and revenue beat Wall Street expectations.

The chief financial officer at the light-emitting diode products maker is resigning to join Extreme Networks Inc. in the same capacity.

Benihana Inc., up $2.82 at $16.12

The Japanese food and sushi chain has agreed to be taken private by Angelo, Gordon & Co.'s Private Equity Group for $296 million.

Urban Outfitters Inc., up $1.94 at $28.10

Thanks to a 9 percent rise in sales, the clothing retailer's fiscal first-quarter profit was better than Wall Street expected.
