1. FEW PLANS EMERGE FROM EUROPE TALKS ON FINANCIAL CRISIS

European Union leaders end their latest summit early today with few concrete steps to fix the continent's financial crisis. Some stressed the importance of planning for a messy Greek exit from the euro.

2. GOVERNMENT TAKING STEPS TO COMBAT FOOD STAMP FRAUD

New rules being proposed today would demand explanations from people who repeatedly seek replacements for lost cards. Many cards end up being sold on the open market.

3. PRIVATE CARGO CAPSULE TO TAKE PRACTICE RUN AT SPACE STATION

SpaceX begins putting its unmanned capsule through a series of stop-and-go maneuvers around the station. If all goes well, it will dock Friday to deliver 1,000 pounds of supplies.

4. MISSOURI TO USE MICHAEL JACKSON DRUG FOR EXECUTIONS

The state is switching from a three-drug method to a single drug, propofol, the same anesthetic used in the pop star's overdose death. Propofol has never been used in an execution in the U.S.

5. FIRE ABOARD NUCLEAR-POWERED SUBMARINE INJURES 7

Officials say the sub's reactor wasn't operating at the time and was unaffected by the blaze that burned through the night at the shipyard in Kittery, Maine.

6. CASH-STRAPPED STATES PUSHING CONGRESS FOR NEW HIGHWAY TOLLS

New pilot toll projects have already been approved on Interstate 95 in Virginia and North Carolina and on Interstate 70 in Missouri.

7. HOW MANY STORMS WILL HIT THIS HURRICANE SEASON

At 11 a.m., the government releases its forecast for the Atlantic hurricane season that begins June 1. In the Pacific, Hurricane Bud formed today as it bears down on southwestern Mexico.

8. OBAMA TRAVELS TO IOWA TO TOUT RENEWABLE ENERGY

At 7 p.m., the president speaks in Des Moines to support clean-energy tax incentives, part of his congressional "to-do" list that he contends could bolster the economy.

9. SOLDIERS PLANT FLAGS TO HONOR U.S. WAR VETERANS

At 4 p.m., they will begin placing U.S. flags at the more than 220,000 grave markers at Arlington National Cemetery, a tradition that has been part of Memorial Day weekend activities for more than six decades.

10. PHILLIP PHILLIPS IS THE NEW `AMERICAN IDOL'

The bluesy Georgia guitar man beat out teenager Jessica Sanchez.
