Wednesday evening Bill and Kathy Vinyard, Larry and Sharon Simonson, and Gene Mehan were the early arrivals for a new work project for From the Ground Up.

The group was planting lilies at the viaduct on South College at First Street. Vinyard said the grown plants are harvested from some of the group's lawns, including her own. The goal for Wednesday evening was to get as much planted in a two-hour period as possible, then return at a later time to continue working on the project.

Vinyard said the city of Lincoln helped out by clearing away the largest portion of the weeds and grass on the dirt berm. Bill Vinyard worked to clean out the weeds where city equipment didn't reach, while the rest of the crew dug holes and set out plants.
