Thursday evening several gathered at the Lincoln Fire Department station to participate in the dedication ceremony for the city's new pumper truck. The truck replaces a vehicle more than 20 years old that had developed a leaking and un-repairable tank. The city council worked for several months to determine what the best plan of action was regarding the old truck. Beginning in February the council talked about what to do, but everything had to be put on hold due to budget constraints. After the new fiscal year began for the city of Lincoln, the topic came back to the foreground, and eventually it was decided that the city would purchase a stock vehicle. Though it's brand-new, the term stock means basically that it didn't come with any extra whistles and bells.

During Thursday evening's dedication, Chief Mark Miller spoke about this, saying that in selecting the vehicle, the criteria were whether it would fit the needs of the department, fit in the station and be big enough to hold all the equipment the firemen would have to load into it.
