[November 10, 2012]  McLEAN -- The day before Thanksgiving, Sugar Grove Nature Center is offering a young children's program, "Little Wonders: Plants on Your Thanksgiving Plate." It will be presented from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and again at 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 21.

Turkeys usually take center stage on Thanksgiving Day, but dinner wouldn't be the same without the plants on your plate. Children ages 3 to 5 are invited to find out how cranberries grow, how a pumpkin becomes a pie and see potatoes before they are mashed. Even stuffing starts off as a plant. Participants will make a craft, listen to a story and enjoy a snack.

The fee is $5 per child for members and $8 per child for nonmembers. Registration and adult chaperone are required.

For more information or to register, phone 309-874-2174 or email register@sugargrovenaturecenter.org.
